For guaranteed success and peace of mind in your life, you have only two options:
1) Do what you love
2) Love what you do
Whenever 1) is possible, go for it. No matter what your friends say, your relatives say, or the god himself says, listen to your heart. Do what you love. Bharat Ratna Bhimsen Joshi did what he loved all his life, even if it took him running away from his home to learn what he loved. Sachin Tendulkar did what he loved. They never bothered about market conditions and which career option would pay them better.
And if unavoidable circumstances don’t allow you to do what you love, then love what you do. Life is as simple as that. Don’t resist the change, enjoy it instead. If you love entrepreneurship, but become a Human Resource manager without a choice, just don’t regret. Just accept the reality and start loving HR. Start liking it more than entrepreneurship. Aim to become the best HR in your company.
I wanted an electronics job after I passed out of college. But I’m a Software Engineer today. You know what, I least regret it. I enjoy every day of my work. I wait to go to office and learn and apply new concepts in software technologies. I enjoy solving problems in computer programming and read technology books even on weekends.
What if I suddenly wake up one fine morning and realize that I (magically) became a playback singer? I’ll least bother about it. I’d rather enjoy the music around me, learn new musical tunes and (hopefully) entertain you with my songs.
Life is all about enjoying every moment of it. It’s about achieving perfection in what we do. Giving due respect to our profession, no matter how small or big it is according to the rest of the world. Having a positive attitude and getting on.
Enjoy your work!
