Dress to Impress

Do you care less about what you wear in a job interview? Well in that case, I strongly recommend that you care about your dressing from now on.

Ask why?

Your dress and grooming speak a lot on your behalf. They demonstrate to the employer that you are interested in the job being offered. Being casually dressed and groomed as if you came straight from bed, would send a clear message to the recruiter –”I don’t need your job. I just came to your interview to check out this building’s cafeteria.”

Great dressing distinguishes you from other candidates. Also indicates that you are financially sound and are a confident individual.

So what should you wear for a job interview? In Indian context, Men should wear full sleeve formal shirt (preferably light colour) and pleated formal pants (preferably dark coloured). Tie is not necessary as it doesn’t go well with the tropical climate of the Indian sub-continent. Women should wear any light colored, less flamboyant salwar kameez or business formals. I usually maintain a separate set of dress only meant for wearing in job interviews. (Psst.. my interview success rate is quite high).
