Target Audience: Electrical and Electronics engineers, electronics enthusiasts and micro-controller maniacs.
Content: This is a Google doc presentation that introduces AVR micro-controllers. AVR is manufactured byAtmel Semiconductors.

Tip: Look for speaker notes of the presentation for detailed description of the slides.

This presentation briefs about features of AVR 8-bit Micro Controller Unit, software & hardware kits available for learning AVR MCU’s.
Most of the engineering college projects from Electrical and Electronics Department(EEE), Electronics and Electronics and Communication Department(ECE) and Computer Science Department(CSE) are micro-controller projects. And among those projects 8051 microcontroller is most-commonly used one.
The reason behind wide usage of 8051 is that there is a lot of knowledge on web available about 8051. And most of the project centers that undertake projects have knowledge of 8051 only. Or the chances are that the project you have selected is already being done by other batches since ten years.

It is time for you to grow up. Consider AVR micro-controllers. AVR micro-controllers are cool and are latest in market. Furthermore they are really easy to learn and have far better features when compared to 8051. This presentation attempts to show you a brief description about AVR micro-controllers. This presentation also mentions about the software and hardware used to program AVR micro-controllers.
I have done eleven projects using AVR micro-controllers in my college days. This presentation has illustrative photographs of few AVR projects. This presentation was specially designed keeping in view that the reader is a beginner in micro-controller programming. AVR micro-controllers are 8-bit RISC(Reduced Instruction Set Computer). See wikipedia about RISC for more.
As a micro-controller programmer, one can create any gadget from a calculator to an ipod. AVR micro-controllers with their high speed and neat features is a very nice point to start micro-controller programming. I also recommend AVR micro-controllers for college projects. 8051 projects are archaic and old now.
